BT has announced that industry in the Ebbsfleet Valley area will be offered a fibre-based broadband product, according to reports.
It is expected that this will improve gaming and high-definition TV in the area at a faster rate than copper cabling.
BT's local access network, Openreach, is supplying Ebbsfleet Valley, where 100,000 new properties are to be built, with fibre.
Steve Robertson, head of Openreach, said: "This is our first deployment of fibre rather than copper to residential customers on a new-build site.
"It will enable communication providers to gauge what demand exists for very high-speed broadband, and to assess what commercial models may be appropriate in the future."
