Aruba's supposed patent 'infringement' riles Motorola

Aruba's supposed patent 'infringement' riles MotorolaMotorola is taking legal action against Aruba Networks over a perceived violation of its patents concerning wireless local area network (Lan) communication technologies, it has been reported.

Motorola subsidiaries Symbol Technologies and Wireless Valley Communications filed suit in the US district court for the district of Delaware this week.

They hope to prevent any further use of the patented technologies by Aruba and secure monetary damages.

"Two of the patents in this lawsuit relate to wireless Lan switching architecture technology," Motorola said in a statement.

"Wireless Valley introduced the breakthrough concept of using a predictive design approach, a 3D representation of an environment and site-specific information in the design, implementation and management of wireless networks in and around buildings."

Meanwhile, wireless Lan site planning and radio frequency management patent infringements have also been identified.

Aruba spokesperson Michael Tennefoss said the firm had yet to be served with the lawsuit, but declined to comment further.
