APC has expanded its relationship with IBM to provide some its technology for the company's Portable Modular Data Centres (PMDC).
A version of the PMDC will be made using APC's InfraStruXure range, which promises on-demand architecture for any IT environment.
Customers will get a fully functional data centre that fits within a shipping container, offering complete physical infrastructure, including power and cooling systems, as well as remote monitoring.
Jim Simonelli, chief technology officer at APC, said: "APC's footprint in IBM's modular data centre offerings demonstrates the adaptability of our solutions to meet customer demands in a variety of business applications."
APC has been providing networking infrastructure solutions for IBM since 2006, for products such as the Scalable Modular Data Centre and High Density Zone solutions.
The concept of a portable data centre has become popular in the last few years as it saves businesses the time and money needed to build one from scratch. Another company that provides the service is Hewlett Packard, which started supplying them in 2008.
