AboveNet Installs 1,000th Network Node

AboveNet installs 1,000th network node Fibre optic connectivity solution provider AboveNet has installed its 1,000th network node, it has been announced.

The node has now become a part of the company's private customer optical network support and also supports a number of protocols.

Protocols include packet based ones such as high-bandwidth Ethernet, storage and digital video submissions.

It also supports mainframe specific protocols such as Fibre Channel/EScon/Ficon.
Bosses said the 1,000th node was significant in that it was a vote of confidence for the product.
