The Wikimedia Foundation may need better server room monitoring and uninterrupted power supply (UPS) solutions after it was hit by yet another data centre problem.
The organisation, which looks after the phenomenally popular Wikipedia service, was affected earlier this morning (July 5th).
On its Twitter feed, Wikipedia explained why the service had been hit, although it appears the problem has now been resolved.
"Hi, everyone. We're aware that the site isn't working as usual and we're figuring out the problem now. We'll let you know more soon!
"Thanks for being patient, everyone. We've figured out the problem: power outage in our Florida data centre. Slowly coming back online!"
No explanation for the power outage has yet been given, although it is possible it may have been as a result of overheating.
Of course, a problem like this could be avoided through adequate server room monitoring systems, while UPS solutions would help to make sure operations continue through power cuts.
