Tyco Electronics has unveiled a new connector for industrial environments that can maintain connectivity while saving space.
The Industrial Mini I/O connector system features two points of contact and promises increased reliability in high vibration environments.
Furthermore, the compact connectors are a quarter of the size of traditional RJ45 plugs, even with a full latching system.
James Gula, product manager at Tyco Electronics, said: "Our new product meets the stringent demands of industrial devices. The rigid latching system and multiple contact points significantly reduce the risk of information loss in high vibration environments.
"The connector system is an excellent replacement for existing RJ45 technology. It occupies significantly less space while offering increased functionality."
Meeting Cat5e requirements, the connectors can be used in ethernet applications and can operate within a temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees.
Tyco also recently introduced the Mag45 power over ethernet connector, offering high-density distributed power system delivery without the need to retool existing networks
