Tyco Electronics has released a new RJ point five connector system that can double up port density while maintaining field termination capabilities.
With just a 7mm line of port spacing, the connector takes up half the space of a normal RJ45 ethernet link. However, the configuration still allows for rapid and easy deployment of product extensions.
Gretchen L Troutman, product manager at Tyco Electronics, believes the connector meets the needs of consumers.
She said: "The RJ point five connector is a direct response to the market's need for a cost-effective solution for higher I/O port density.
"The modular design achieves greater flexibility to accommodate specific application requirements."
Tyco recently released a new range of Cat5e trunk leads that promised better routing and easy handling as a result of a low weight and reduced diameter.
The company, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, produces electronic components for telecommunications as well as other industries such as aerospace and alternative energy.
