AFL Telecommunications has released a new device that can help users troubleshoot dark single-mode fibres in local area, metro area, and FTTx networks.
The OFL250-50 Handheld is a visual fault locator that can local fibre cable cuts, bends and anything else that may be leading to loss of connection.
With a 26 dB dynamic range, the device comes in a rugged, handheld and light weight form and also features tool-free, switchable adapters for OTDR and OPM ports.
The network tools also feature internal storage that can hold over 1,000 OTDR traces in standard format while the results can be transferred to a PC over a USB cable.
In addition to this, a high-contrast display means the product can be used in any lighting condition, including direct sunlight.
Black box recently introduced the Visual Light Source Pen, a device that allows users to locate faults and leaks in either jacketed or bare fibre cables.
