Cisco switches installed in Nasdaq data centre - Network Accessories

Cisco switches installed in Nasdaq data centre - Network AccessoriesThe world's largest stock exchange company, Nasdaq OMX, has announced that Cisco switches have been installed in its Philadelphia trading data centre.

Making use of Cisco's Nexus 5000 switches and Nexus 2000 series fabric extenders, the Nasdaq OMX PHLX platform is a trading exchange that presents electronic and floor-based options trading on the group's Inet technology.

Inet allows companies to trade stock electronically as well as make use of the Genium Web Trade software - a new web-based application.

Geir Reigstad, senior vice president, commented: "Genium Inet Web Trade provides quick and reliable access to our markets. As the new application is web-based, the time to market for traders wishing to trade Nasdaq OMX Commodities products is drastically reduced."

For the Online Trading Exchange, Nasdaq installed 12 Nexus 5000 series switches and 24 Nexus 2000 fabric extenders.

Since installing the networking tools from Cisco, the trading company has claimed that users have seen a significant improvement in its systems, including condensed latency and jitter.
