A new device aimed at cabling contractors and providing easy cable crimping capabilities has been launched by Barlow Communications.
The handheld crimper, called the Hobbes Tooltest, is also capable of testing structured cabling integrity.
Suitable for use with standard twisted-pair Cat5 and Cat6 leads, the Hobbes Tooltest can also determine the pin-to-pin configuration of cabling.
It can also be used for crimping untwisted pair cables and can run single diagnostic tests or repeated tests to check for potential transmission errors.
The device is modular and compatible with RJ45, RJ12 and RJ11 leads.
It also comes with an integrated cable stripper, which can be manually detached from the tool.
Earlier this year, Megger launched a new range of connector-less cable tester aimed at contractors working in the heavy industry sector.
The company's SCT range offers a selection of powerful diagnostic tools, which Megger claims can speed up the process of finding and dealing with cabling faults.
