Re-embedded tests from R&M - Network Accessories Network engineers and managers have been told of a new re-embedded test for cat6a modules.

According to Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), the new method can be used to test the operating reliability of data networks and prove that plug and connection modules transmit signals perfectly.

Results are computed mathematically based on 14 simulated plugs, while measurements are conducted directly on the rigid test head of a network analyser.

Dominik Schweizer, from the R&M Engineering Test Lab, said: "The re-embedded model is an excellent test method. However, the crucial thing is to have the components strictly satisfy the specifications for the pertinent standards such as ISO 11801 and IEC 60603-7-41/51.

"The re-embedded process should be used on all component generations. That is reasonable from the standpoint of standardisation and also with regard to obtaining uniform, physically correct data."

Meanwhile, cable companies Tyco and Brand-Rex both recently approved the Ideal Industries LanTEK II cable tester for use on their products.
