Patching solutions 'reduce cabling need'

Patching solutions 'reduce cabling need'High density patch panels can reduce the need for cabling in data centre installations, it has been reported.

Rittal, which produces high density patching technology, have launched two new products for 1,000 and 2,000 millimetre data cable enclosures, according to Ferret.

The firm has also unveiled cable-shunting devices that can soak up excess lengths of cabling and radius reducers for redirecting cables, reports the tech-news website.

According to the website: "These solutions help accommodate large volumes of cable within the network distribution system and can reduce the amount of space used for cabling in data centres."

Mark Roberts, IT business development manager at Rittal told the news provider high property prices are forcing people to conserve space.

He added that reducing cable volumes was a good way of saving money.

Meanwhile, writing for Gulf News, Todd Musseau said using CAT5E or CAT6 cables for home networking could increase data transfer speeds.ADNFCR-1186-ID-18865458-ADNFCR
