Nexans welcomes RJ45 connector standard - Network Accessories

Nexans welcomes RJ45 connector standard - Network AccessoriesNexans has welcomed the latest standards for network cables, requiring copper cabling to support a minimum frequency of at least 500MHz.

The standard was published by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) in April and emphasised the importance of RJ45 compatible connector interfaces.

Nexans, global expert in cables and cabling solutions, has confirmed that its own RJ45 connector solution has been approved.

Martin Rossbach, director of product marketing for Nexans, said: "Once again ISO has recognised the importance of backwards compatibility for data centre design, and specified a connector which provides this.

"The specified IEC 60603-7-71 connector is the Nexans' GG45 connector, which is compatible with all RJ45 legacy equipment and also allows organisations to future-proof their data centres by supporting bandwidths of 40G and higher."

Meanwhile, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers recently ratified the 802.3ba standard.

This means that 40GbE and 100GbE speeds will now be available for networking, in addition to 10GbE.
