New power-over-ethernet switch - Network AcessoriesA new power-over-ethernet switch has been unveiled, giving businesses the chance to save time and money through cabling optimisation.

PoE Technologies has released the NS-PoE-8, an eight-port switch that allows up to 25 watts of power per RJ45 Port.

Designed for the physical security market, it can allow integrators and value-added-resellers to easily solve power issues, making it ideal for applications such as high powered PTZ and door access controls.

James H Riggs, president and chief executive of PoE Technologies, explained how the new product will benefit consumers.

He said: "With the ratification of IEEE-802.3at our customers will be able to take advanced of the higher watt output. The NS-PoE-8 can now be used with both IEEE-802.3af and IEEE802.3at interchangeability.

"By using PoE customers can save time and money by not having to provide separate cabling for power."

Meanhwile, Nexans recently welcomed the latest standard from the International Standards Organisation, requiring copper cabling to support a minimum frequency of at least 500MHz.
