Tyco Electronics has signed a deal with Bel Stewart for the manufacturing, market and sale of next-generation RJ point five connector.
The product will be able to double the port density of traditional RJ45 ethernet links while maintaining field termination capability.
By partnering together, the companies hope they will be able to provide cost-effective connector solutions through a multi-sourced approach.
Dennis Renaud, vice president of product management at Tyco Electronics, said: "We previously worked with Bel Stewart Connector on second-source arrangements and are pleased that they will be a supplier for the RJ point five connector.
"Our primary focus is to provide customers with a dependable second source for this new interface, and we strongly believe that Bel Stewart has the full capacity to fill this role."
Siemon recently expanded its RJ45 connector options by introducing a spring-loaded hinged door to its Z-MAX range.
This will help to protect the connector's internal components and critical mating surfaces from dust and other potential environmental contaminants.
