A new switch, featuring two remote control ports for both RD232 and ethernet access, has been released by Electro Standards Laboratories.
The firm has confirmed that the PathWay Model 7294 is a 16-channel cat5 RJ45 A/B switch that allows the sharing of a single port interface device among two others for each of its channels.
The two remote control ports, a DB9 and an RJ45, are located on the back of the device and while the former can be operated using ASCII RS232 serial data, the latter requires Telnet commands or graphical user interface.
With a 19-inch width, the unit can fit in a standard server rack and has manual pushbuttons on the front panel for local switching, while LEDs display current position and power status.
Rhode Island-based Electro Standards Laboratories unveiled another product, the Model 9474, which is an efficient and secure switch that requires no extra power supply.
