A new home networking solution created by networking equipment manufacturers Entropic Communications and Actiontec Electronics has been uncovered at the Consumer Electronics Show 2009 (CES) in Las Vegas.
The device aims to provide a fast and reliable internet connection to a plethora of networkable devices using standard household cabling.
Internet ready televisions, digital video recorders, satellite receivers, DVD and Blu-ray players and games consoles can all now be connected to the internet and the biggest challenge for consumers is connecting all the devices to a single network, according to MSNBC.
Actiontec Electronics' MoCA Network Adapter aims to make the task easier by allowing home cinema buffs to use existing coaxial cabling to transmit data.
Michael Ehlenberger, vice-president of channel sales at Actiontec Electronics, told the news provider: "In the past, installers would have to pull cabling, which is time consuming and expensive. Now these connections can be set up in minutes."
In related news, D-Link launched a Coax Ethernet Adapter Kit at the CES.
