Companies are using IP telephony more, but the quality of these services is falling, according to a new survey.
A study by Psytechnics found that 64 per cent of respondents said they used IP telephony solutions.
Significantly more businesses are looking at IP telephony for next year, website ComputerWeekly reports.
But 60 per cent of respondents said they had concerns over the level of quality provided by IP telephony and a further 62 per cent reporting to have experienced problems with it.
Mike Hollier of Psytechnics told the website: "We've encountered a number of enterprises that are suffering with voice performance problems that go undetected by typical IP QoS tools.
"In these instances, IP QoS tools indicate a green light, but end users are throwing up their hands in exasperation with voice application issues such as speech distortion, hiss and echo."
