Global mobile broadband subscriptions 'to hit 1bn' - Network Kits

Global mobile broadband subscriptions 'to hit 1bn' - Network Kits Businesses using network kits might be intrigued to hear that mobile broadband subscriptions around the world are set to reach one billion this year.

According to a study by ABI Research, mobile operators in China and India are in the top five largest mobile broadband providers, followed by the US-based Verizon Wireless in sixth position.

However, the markets in the first two countries are not at 100 per cent saturation yet, so there is plenty of room for growth.

"However, the strictly regulated telecom markets in these two countries impose high barriers for foreign players, which may slow the rollout of new technology," noted ABI practice director Neil Strother.

Fei Feng Seet, research associate at the organisation, commented: "With the proliferation of mobile broadband, it has become increasingly common to have multiple mobile connections per user.

"The main motivation is the desire to stay connected everywhere, with more high speed 4G wireless networks lighting up, and a huge increase in the popularity of social connectivity," the expert added.
