Network attached storage backup advice - Network Accessories

Network attached storage backup advice - Network AccessoriesBusinesses and server room managers have been advised to back up their network attached storage.

In an article for TechTarget, Pierre Dorion explains how backing up this is slightly more complicated than simply backing up data from each computer, not least because the appliances run on their own operating systems.

Network Data Management Protocol is one way of doing this and the main advantage is that is does not require client intervention, with the backup server communicating directly with the network attached storage device

Another highlighted option is the use of online data backup solutions, which are often integrated within the network attached storage equipment in the first place.

They offer easy access to the data in the case of a disaster and can be accessed from anywhere to recover files.

Netgear recently unveiled a number of devices, including the ReadyNAS 3100, aimed at medium-sized businesses looking to create a virtualised environment.
