Network accessories spend predicted to rise - Network AccessoriesNew research has suggested that small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) will increase the amounts they spend on IT equipment and services this year.

A survey of SMB specialist partners by Microsoft found that 63 per cent expect customers to spend more on IT this year than they did last year, with an average rise of 16 per cent predicted.

Steve Ranger, editor of silicon.com, explained why, even though the economic recovery may not have been secured yet, spending on server accessories may still increase.

He said: "2010 is still going to be a testing year for IT - tech projects will need to have a fast and proven return on investment if they are going to be signed off. IT budgets in the private sector - apart from for the lucky few - are unlikely to rise too much this year

"At the same time, organisations are recognising they need to invest in new technology if they are going to be ready for growth when it comes."

Technology and market research company Forrester Research recently predicted that the global IT market will grow by 7.7 per cent this year.
