A new four-channel pluggable parallel-optic QSFP transceiver module for 40-Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) applications is now available on the market, those upgrading networking equipment will be glad to hear.
Launched by Avago Technologies, the transceiver is fully compliant to the IEEE 802.3ba 40GBase-SR4 specification and is designed for multi-lane data communication.
The 40GbE QSFP transceiver can also be used with interconnect applications that put together four independent 10-Gbps data lanes in each direction to deliver 40-Gbps aggregate bandwidth.
Companies can also deploy the transceiver for use in datacom/telecom switch and router connections, in addition to data aggregation and backplane applications.
According to Avago, its integrated circuit and VCSEL technology is incorporated in the product to provide high performance and long-life reliability when being used with installations of varying cable links or where difficult cable plant installations are required.
Meanwhile, Marvell recently introduced a gigabit Ethernet switch platform aimed at small businesses.
