New Ethernet cable accessories designed for small-to-medium-sized enterprises have been introduced by integrated silicon solutions provider Marvell Semiconductor.
The Prestera 98DX3130 Ethernet switch and Alaska 88E1545 gigabit Ethernet transceiver ICs are energy efficient gigabit Ethernet switch platforms aimed at helping professionals to scale their networks without compromising performance.
According to Michael Zimmerman, senior director for Ethernet access at Marvell, it is vital for companies to be able to cut down the number of addresses to support networked devices and still keep power consumption and cost low.
"The new Prestera 98DX3130 Ethernet switch is designed to address these new challenges by supporting twice the number of Ethernet addresses while offering Layer 3 routing and IPv6 forwarding, routing and multicasting," he said.
"Combined with the Alaska 88E1545 transceiver, it delivers the industry's lowest power consumption in a highly compact form factor and optimised system solution."
Ethernet is a range of frame-based computer networking technologies for local area networks.
