Hall Research introduces video extender

Hall Research introduces video extenderHall Research Technologies has introduced its new Model UD2A-EDID, DVI video extender over twisted-pair (Cat6), which boasts extended display identification (EDID) management, audio and RS-232 extension.

The unit also features DVI input with local loop output and remote DVI outputs on RJ45connectors and can read, store and emulate EDID information from locally or remotely connected LCDs.

EDID data can then be downloaded to a computer, modified using Windows and uploaded to the unit for emulation.

It is also capable of extending DVI video, full duplex RS-232 and stereo audio to a small receiver using just two Cat6 cables.

The manufacturer adds that the device's Rs-232 extension makes it "ideal" for kiosk applications with touchscreen LCD.

Altona Technologies recently announced it is releasing a new HDMI Extender for consumers wanting to transfer signals over Cat5E/6 cables.

The firm claims the AT-HD30SR will replace the pricier HDMI cabling with cost-effective Cat5E/6 or Ethernet cables, while its sleek form and the fact it does not need a power supply will make it easy to hide.
