Gefen introduces KVM extenders - Network Accessories Gefen has unveiled a range of new KVM extenders to give users access to remote computers, it has been reported.

According to Cabling Installation & Maintenance, the firm introduced the new products at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas.

The CAT5-4000 can connect up to three computers or high-definition video devices over cat5 or cat6 cables, offering signal distribution, integration and extension capability in one box.

Meanwhile, the CAT6-1600HD enables users to access the service they need from up to 60 metres away from the server rack.

An analogue version of this device is available in the CAT6-1600A, which can extend KVM devices up to 91 metres while maintaining video clarity.

KVM extenders can be important products as they allow IT managers and other users to work on server racks comfortably, away from what may be a hot and noisy environment.

Earlier this year, Aten introduced three new KVM extenders, working with cat5e cables over ranges of up to 1,000 feet.
