A leading broadband provider is looking to create a range of new "sexy" networking equipment.
Talk Talk has announced it has worked with students from Goldsmiths, University of London, to create a new generation of designer routers.
Members of the public are being asked to vote on their favourite designs, which include ones called Route O'clock, Hybrid Router, Energy Saving Router and Jellyfish.
Mark Schmid from Talk Talk said the pieces of networking equipment represent "a passport to one of the greatest communication revolutions ever".
He added: "Working with the design boffins at Goldsmiths, we wanted to transform the humble router into something that people would want to shout about.
"With the very first Routers of the Future collection, our vision of making the router an integral part of our customers' lifestyles and interiors comes to life."
H2O Networks has started work on its Fibrezone grid around Sheffield, which will use fibre optic cables it claims makes the technology cheaper than traditional network equipment.
