Extreme adds 10Gbit Ethernet switch

Extreme adds 10Gbit Ethernet switchExtreme Networks has introduced a new 10GBit network switch to its Summit range.

The new X650 is a 32-port stackable switch and is specifically designed to fit in server racks and server cabinets.

Running on the same ExtremeXOS operating system as other Summit devices, the device also has the same stacking technology and allows for any combination of 10/100 gigabit and 10Gbit switches to be managed in the same system.

Paul Phillips, Extreme's director for the UK and Ireland, said the stackable switches allow for a total of 256 ports.

He added that the goal of the products was to allow for simpler upgrade to a 10Gbit core without compromising existing infrastructure.

Extreme Networks was founded in 1996 and builds and installs sophisticated Ethernet solutions and IP-communication systems.

According to the firm, it has delivered more than 15 million Ethernet ports to more than 50 countries around the world and offers a wide range of professional services – including network design.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19009067-ADNFCR
