Edgecore has announced its plans to bring full ten gigabit capabilities to its switches, to meet the demand for cat 6a infrastructure.
The company will integrate the technology into the TigerStack 1000 high-performance stackable layer 3 switch platform, which was always designed with upgradeability in mind.
Iain Kenney, director of product marketing at Edgecore, explained how there is an increasing demand for networking infrastructure that can cope with services such as video conferencing and IP telephony.
He said: "By launching our 10GBASE-T solution, which is comprised of our high-performance switches and state-of-the-art 10GBASE-T uplink module, we're making it easy and affordable for companies to migrate to 10G speeds utilizing their existing Ethernet cabling infrastructure.
"This enables them to vastly improve network performance while eliminating the cost of rewiring buildings and, ultimately, lowers the total cost of ownership."
Force1- Networks recently announced that it plans to incorporate 40 gigabit technology into its switches once a standard has been established by the IEEE.
