Verizon Business has been given approval to activate and operate the Trans-Pacific Express submarine cable system in the US.
The company was granted a landing license by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), following an application for the license last year.
It will be the first next-generation undersea optical cable system linking the US to mainland China.
The system will use innovative optical technology and provide greater capacity and higher speeds to increase demand for IP, data and voice communications traffic.
