BSkyB has signed a deal with one of the largest satellite peripheral providers to increase supply of its four-channel satellite channel router (SCR), it has been reported.
The device, produced by Global Invacom, will ease pressure on households wanting to set up a cabled home network and allow multiple units in one household, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The move comes as demand for Sky+ and Sky+HD set-top boxes grows making them the most popular digital video recorders in the UK, the paper states.
"We are very pleased that Global Invacom has successfully incorporated Entropic's CSS technology in our new SCR," Pascal Wharton, head of Sky Homes at BSkyB said, according to the news provider.
He added: "This technology will help us to cost-effectively expand our coverage."
The system can be deployed with single cable topographies or twin "shotgun" cable infrastructures.
In related news Sky has made its mobile TV package available to 3 customers.
