A new surge protector has been unveiled by Para Systems – a leading manufacturer of the devices.
The Minuteman LineGuard product offers increased protection against surges and interference in both digital and analogue systems.
It is primarily aimed at businesses which operate closed circuit television systems, but can be used to offer protection to other power over Ethernet devices.
Bill Allen, director of marketing for Para Systems, said: "When someone purchases expensive security cameras, DVRs or other networking equipment and does not protect them from potential damage, these mission critical devices are obviously at high risk.
"When you compare the cost of downtime and equipment replacement expenses, these surge suppressors are an excellent investment," he added.
The device can be linked to network equipment by standard Cat5 or Cat6 cables which have RJ45connectors.
Recently, Sanus unveiled a new surge protector. The company is targeting audio-visual professionals and home cinema users with its Elements ELM203 device.
