New single port PoE midspans offer cost savings - Network AccessoriesThe world's most efficient single port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) midspans have been brought into the market by Microsemi Corporation, a firm that produces analog and mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors.

Dubbed PowerDsine PD3501 and PD3501G, the range boasts the lowest power consumption in both no-load and load conditions and offers compact and cost effective, fully IEEE 802.3af compliant solutions for remotely powering wireless LAN access points.

Their coverage extends to IP security cameras, VoIP phones, access control systems and other low port density installations and they were praised by Sani Ronen, senior product line manager at the company.

He said: "In addition to their power efficient design, the PD3501 family delivers the high quality and reliability known for the entire PowerDsine line.

"Their superior performance includes full data integrity in 10/100/1000mbps applications and meets the market's highest margins for EMI Class B."

Meanwhile, Microsoft recently revealed that small and medium-sized businesses are set to increase their budgets for IT equipment and services this year, despite the tough economic conditions.
