Network equipment manufacturer ITT Interconnect has launched a new cable connector aimed at assembly manufacturers.
The ITT Cannon 2 MM Modular CBC 20 is part of the company's Tempus range and has a two-part modular plug which allows designers to modify it easily.
According to Electronics Weekly, the connector is capable of dealing with large amounts of data at high speeds and can work with mist common wire sizes – such as Cat5 or Cat6 leads.
It is sturdy and ideally suited to telecommunications, industrial and medical applications.
Meanwhile, structured cabling manufacturer Deutsch recently introduced a new range of composite connectors for use with RJ45 leads and patch cords.
The new device makes standard Cat4, Cat5e and Cat6 cable connectors suitable for harsh environments, such as on military vehicles and naval ships.
Deutsch claims that its decision not to use a standard aluminium protective covering means the connector can withstand up to 2,000 hours of salt spray.
