Connector supplier FCI has introduced magnetic jacks for high-speed communications applications, thereby expanding its RJ45 portfolio.
The RJ45 magnetic jacks, which are available with or without LEDS, can be used in a wide range of entertainment devices, as well as for home, small business and enterprise networking.
Most commonly used for 10/100 and 1000Base-T Ethernet connections, the RJ45 connectors can be deployed for networking routers, switching hubs, printers and LAN cards, among other things.
Alex Liang, product Manager at FCI, said: "The magnetic jack connectors are designed to accommodate today's demand for high-speed communication application."
The jacks offer current ratings of 1.5 A and voltage ratings of 150 Vac. For a standard magnetic RJ45 jack with LED, customers can expect to pay between $0.60 and $2.10 per port.
Last month, FCI announced several I-O connector solutions for E1/T1 and xDSL applications aimed primarily at the telecoms industry.
