Cisco has been confirmed as the provider of a software as a service platform for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The firm's Eos products have been adopted by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) and will be used to create, manage and support community-driven websites.
Cisco is already the official network infrastructure supporter of London 2012 and has also been working with the organisers to set up a secure local area network infrastructure.
Alex Balfour, head of New Media at LOCOG, explained how the Cisco technology would help to engage with audiences directly and personally.
He added: "We are pleased to be working with Cisco to help us create experiences that are interactive, immersive and personal.
"We can do that online in an effective and memorable way by integrating social interaction through the Cisco Eos platform."
Cisco recently announced that its profits in the third quarter were up by 27 per cent compared to the same period a year ago.
