Netgear is set to launch its new line of unified threat management (UTM) appliances for use on small business networks.
The technology firm's ProSecure UTM Appliances claim to provide "comprehensive security" for businesses without compromising the performance of a network.
Initially consisting of two devices, the UTM10 and UTM25, the line will use Netgear's Stream Scanning technology to monitor the security of a network.
Jason Leung, Netgear's senior product line manager for small business security, said the Stream Scanning has "cracked the code" of providing "comprehensive security" while still being "affordable" for the smaller firm.
He added: "The sheer computing 'horsepower' required to keep myriad security technologies from bogging down the network has often made many enterprise-class technologies too expensive for smaller businesses to realistically consider as a solution."
Netgear's ReadyNAS Duo network storage device was recently awarded the Best Buy and Editor's Choice awards from Personal Computer world.
The device was also given the maximum mark of five stars and was praised for features and performance.
