The University of Manchester has announced it has upgraded its campus with new networking equipment to allow for wireless connectivity.
It has been unveiled by the learning establishment that the new high-speed networking solution has been launched to support its 35,000 students and 11,400 faculty and staff members.
As part of the overhaul of its networking equipment, over 4,000 access points have been located throughout the university to utilise wireless LAN and adaptive radio management technology.
Darren Hankinson, from the University of Manchester's IT services, said: "We looked for a solution that could scale to deliver a pervasive wireless network on campus, yet would be cost effective and both easy to deploy and easy to manage."
H2O Networks recently started work on expanding its Fibrezone network across Sheffield.
Around seven kilometres of existing next-generation fibre optic cables are being overhauled to take the high-speed broadband network across the steel city.
