A new power over Ethernet cabling solution has been developed by international manufacturer SubConn.
The firm's new combined power and data cable is aimed at firms requiring data transmission in underwater environments.
According to the firm, up until now, remotely operated vehicles that required both data and power needed multiple cables one for each function.
To address the issue, SubConn has launched a new combined product to its Ethernet cabling range, which uses a specially designed 13 contact connector that can transmit data at speeds of up to 1Gbps over distances of 100 metres.
"The combined cable is the latest addition to the successful Ethernet range introduced approximately a year and a half ago and is based on cable specially made for the SubConn Ethernet programme," the company said.
Meanwhile, a new Power over Ethernet Splitter has been released by Advantech that allows firms to connect multiple devices to its network with a single Cat5 or Cat6 cable.
