More than 50% would invest in Cat6 cables - RJ45 Patch Leads As data centres become more mission critical, firms are starting to use more reliable structured cabling, it has been claimed.

According to Sandip Chadha, a managing director at global company CommScope, some 54 per cent of IT firms would invest in Cat6 cables to improve their network's reliability.

He claimed that 10Gbps solutions are becoming more widespread as firms look to implement effective virtualisation and consolidation campaigns.

Satish Rao, national business development manager at Schneider Electric India, said: "Organisations today are more knowledgeable on what goes into making a data centre."

"Transition has taken place from being a copper installation with fibre backbone to a healthy mix of fibre along with 10Gbps copper," he added.

Rajesh Kumar, Indian manager for Siemon, said that the next step for businesses is to make their networks more efficient, using intelligent digital switches, routers and bridges.
