Those looking to get the most out of their home network equipment should consider upgrading to gigabit Ethernet, it has been claimed.
According to PC World, the speed of any home network impacts on the performance of every device connected to it, and when it comes to transferring large files or high-definition video a standard 12.5mbps connection is not enough.
The news provider said that the best remedy to this problem is to upgrade to gigabit Ethernet and boost bandwidth massively.
"Switching over to gigabit speeds increases your potential throughput tenfold, minimising your transfer times and greatly enhancing your ability to stream high-bandwidth files," the website stated.
However, the news provider noted that to reach maximum potential, all devices must be networked with gigabit capable connectors, such as Cat6 cables or fibre optic leads.
Meanwhile, Molex India's regional sales director Deepak Jagtiani told Voice and Data that rising data demand is driving the expansion of high-volume cabling.
