Cat6 cables are becoming the standard network equipmentconnectors for company's requiring reliable high-speed Ethernet, it has been claimed.
According to Bryce Huett, the president of Distributor Wire & Cable, cat6 leads are the most dependable and the fastest of all category cabling.
He said that telecoms firms were using the new standard in their phone systems as it allowed for the reliable transmission of critical voice data.
"You can never have your IT network too fast or too reliable," he added.
According to Mr Huett, cat6 cables are manufactured in a larger wire gauge than their cat5e predecessors and use a tighter twisting of four pairs to increase performance.
"In today's struggling economy and competitive business environment, you need to be able to capitalize on any information technology advantage in your infrastructure," he concluded.
Cat6 cable is the sixth generation of twisted pair Ethernet cabling and is capable of communication speeds up to twice as fast as cat5e leads.
