Corning will be standardising its fibre optic cable offerings from April, it has been announced.
The ClearCurve multimode optical fibre will become the company's standard 50-micron multimode fibre network cable.
It has previously been described as being the world's first laser-optimised high-bandwidth, multimode fibre able to withstand bends at 7.5 mm radius with significantly less signal loss than ordinary multimode fibres.
Martin Curran, senior vice president and general manager of Corning optical fibre: "Corning's 50-micron multimode fibre customers will now benefit from superior bend performance.
"This will result in faster and more efficient optical cable routing and installation, and significantly higher spare operating margins at no additional cost."
Virgin Media recently announced that it will lay fibre cables over telegraph poles in order to supply rural areas with faster broadband services.
