Around 700 metres worth of expensive copper communications cabling has been stolen from a site in Scotland.
Thieves removed the cables north of Blackdub Farm by the A84 near Stirling and police believe they used a lorry to pull it out of the ground, the Scotsman reports.
It belonged to communications giant BT and is said to have been worth tens of thousands of pounds. The cables had only recently been installed.
A police spokesperson said officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area last weekend.
She told the newspaper that it would not have been possible to pull the network cables from the ground by hand, so large vehicles must have been involved.
The theft comes after BT launched a new campaign to crack down on cable theft by using SmartWater invisible paint on the cables to forensically tag criminals.
