According to ntl:Telewest Business, which is part of the Virgin Media Group, many firms in the region are looking to streamline their networking infrastructure and are turning to fibre optic leads and cables to achieve their goal.

Since the start of 2008, 754 businesses in Merseyside have chosen to use fibre optic internet connections, rather than lower-speed traditional copper structured cabling connections.

The firms are using the next-generation high-speed Ethernet technology to deliver both voice and data across multiple sites.

According to ntl: Telewest Business, the most popular service taken up by businesses in the region was its Internet Protocol Virtual Private Networks deal.

Meanwhile, cabling manufacturer Finisar has just introduced a new fibre optic cable which can transfer data at speeds of up to 150Gbps.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19234488-ADNFCR
