Mellanox releases new network cables - Network Cables

Mellanox has released a new range of network cables that promise to provide cost-effective connectivity with signal integrity.

The new family of 40Gb/s InfiniBand cable solutions are designed to complement the company's existing adapter cards and switch systems with high-quality connector standards.

Available in a variety of configurations, as copper or fibre cables, the products can be used for a range of applications, from top-of-rack switch connections and small server cluster installations to connectivity between servers and switches across a data centre.

Shai Rephaeli, vice president of interconnect products at Mellanox, said: "Mellanox 40Gb/s cables enable a world-class out-of-the-box experience with our InfiniBand adapter cards and switch systems.

"Mellanox cables, with superior features, performance and reliability, eliminate bit errors that cause data corruption and the resulting application performance degradation."

It was recently reported that opportunistic thieves were ripping up copper cables used to provide broadband connections to houses in order to cash in on the rising price of the metal.
