Three new lines of category 5e RJ45 network cables have been launched by L-com, a global provider of wireless connectivity products.
The cables feature a patent pending right angle design which enables them to achieve a true category 5e rating.
Peter McNeil, product manager at L-com, explained that the moulded right angle cables produced by other manufactures fail category 5e testing for cross talk and return loss.
This is because they "do not control the pair twists though the 90-degree bend".
However, L-com's new products feature a channelised pair guide design that helps to maintain the pair twists through the right angle bend.
The company has applied for a patent to protect this particular design technology.
L-com's new cable lines are TDD815RA, TRD815RA2 and TRD815RA3. The first two have one straight plug and one right angle plug, with the key either at the bottom or the top, while the third line features two right angle plugs.
The firm has also unveiled two new USB 2.0 cable series.
