US Air Force wants quotes on 252,000ft of cat5e - Network cablesThe US Air Force (USAF) is reportedly planning to purchase 252,000 feet of Cat5e cabling as it looks to install new network infrastructure at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam.

According to the government's Federal Business Opportunities site, USAF's procurement department has issued requests for two price quotes on network cables.

The first is for 100 units of 1,000ft red PVC Cat5e cabling, which must be shielded solid bulk and offer frequencies of 350Mhz.

Its second request was for quotes on 152 units of 1,000ft blue plenum Cat5e shielded solid bulk cable supporting frequencies of 350Mhz.

USAF has requested all cables be on wooden spools, as condensation and humidity will lead the standard cardboard holdings to perish.

While it is not known exactly what the cabling will be used for, the Air Force is also looking for one unit of each Cat5e network cables to be sent to its offices in Tracy, California.
