Tyco launches new copper cabling solutions - Fibre Leads Tyco Electronics has launched a new cabling solution aimed at data centres and businesses with in-house network equipment.

The company has unveiled a new version of its Amp NetConnect Sigma-Link solution, which support data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps over standard Cat5 and Cat6 copper cabling.

According to the firm, this is four times faster than many rival networking solutions, which are capped at 10Gbps.

The firm also states that the modular cables are designed specifically to be easy to install – and contractors can install up to six connectors at once with the Sigma-Link system.

"Cables are pre-terminated at the factory to the correct length with a 'one-click' snap-in cassette and the user simply has to place or pull the cables into the pathways, plug the cassettes into the patch panels and mount the finished patch panel," Tyco Electronics adds.

Last week, MegaPhase introduced its own new hard-wearing cabling solution aimed at the defence sector.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19230060-ADNFCR
