Siemon introduces XLR8 cable connector - Fibre Leads

Siemon introduces XLR8 cable connector - Fibre Leads International cabling manufacturer Siemon has introduced its latest mechanical splice cable connector for use with fibre optic leads.

The firm's innovative XLR8 termination system is aimed at installation contractors, and the company claims that the new device can reduce the amount of time it takes to set up cabling systems.

Siemon's splice termination kit comes with a dual-process XLR8 activation tool and is designed for use with 900 micrometre tight buffered fibre optic bundles.

TMCNet.com said: "To maximise termination speed and connector performance, XLR8 tool combines both splice activation and mechanical crimp into a single, optimized step.

"The single-step termination process eliminates the need to handle the connector between splice and crimp processes."

In June, Siemon introduced a new range of Cat6 cables which use a new RJ45 smart plug.

The Z-Max cabling system uses an optimised printed circuit board in each RJ45 connector which allows firms to manually configure the transmission characteristics of each lead.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19318416-ADNFCR
