Network equipment manufacturer OFS has announced the commercial release of its EX-Bend cables.
The launch follows successful trials with a range of independent carriers.
According to OFS, the new technology is suitable for commercial as well as residential wiring applications and allows fibre optic leads to be bent and routed in ways not possible previously.
Since announcing this revolutionary technology development last year, we have received great interest from new and existing customers," said executive vice-president of marketing and sales at the firm William Kloss.
He added that the cabling allows customers to reduce the cost of installing fibre optic cables at the same time as improving performance.
The company stated that the new cabling is fast and reliable, and is ideally suited to the transmission of high-speed internet date and high-definition video.
OFS was the first commercial company to produce fibre optic cables and has been integral in the setting of industry standards for the technology.
